Farmers Market at the Crossings To Open June 7
Colonie, NY - At 9 AM, June 7, 2008, Town of Colonie Supervisor Paula Mahan will ring the opening bell for the official start of the Farmers Market at the Crossings . Every Saturday, June 7 through September 27, the Crossings of Colonie Park will host a farmers market providing residents of Colonie access to fresh, New York State-grown and produced goods in a community-gathering setting. Producers featured at the Market will be Barber's Farm, Bowman Orchards, Karen's Produce, Partridge Sugar House, Professor Java's Coffee Sanctuary, Sherry's Kitchen, The Farm At Kristy's Barn and Witenagemot Farm.
When asked about the Market, Supervisor Mahan said The Farmers Market at the Crossings is a great opportunity for the Town of Colonie to increase services to residents by providing them direct access to farm fresh products, with the added benefit of being no cost to the Town. A volunteer committee made up of Town employees brought this market idea to my attention and I felt it was a great opportunity for Colonie residents to further enjoy the Crossings. Residents will be able to come to the park, enjoy a cup of coffee and stroll through the Market. This Market is a salute to our farming heritage.
The Crossings Park is centrally located in Colonie off of Albany-Shaker Road across from Emerick Lane . Parking at the Crossings has been increased specifically to accommodate customers of the Market, so residents can easily get in and out of the park to do their shopping. Due to the expanse of space at the Crossings Park , the Farmer's Market at the Crossings is still accepting applications from vendors who would like to join the market.
